Kafrene
Your Information Telemetry Outpost
Kafrene is an AI agentic application that autonomously gathers, reads, and analyzes information across topic categories you define — then writes narrative briefings with editorial voice, opinion, and source links. No human in the loop. You configure the topics. The agents do the rest.
Named after the Star Wars trading outpost where information flows freely, Kafrene is built on a simple idea: you shouldn't have to read 80 articles to know what happened today. The AI agents read them for you, connect the dots across sources, and deliver a written briefing that tells you what matters, what's hype, and who's being hypocritical about it.
Most news apps show you headlines. Some summarize articles. Kafrene does something fundamentally different: it runs a multi-step autonomous AI pipeline that searches, scrapes full article text, analyzes everything through an LLM, and generates original narrative prose — not bullet points, not summaries, but opinionated editorial briefings.
Autonomous agents run end-to-end without prompting. No conversations. No babysitting. Configure once, get briefings on schedule.
Not headlines. Not snippets. The agent scrapes and reads the full text of up to 80+ articles per run so the analysis has real depth.
The LLM writes editorial prose with personality. It takes positions, flags what matters, and calls out hypocrisy — like a columnist, not a Wikipedia entry.
The Hall of Shame uses AI to identify double standards from public figures — centrist, balanced, and held to a high bar. All sides get called out equally.
The platform supports both Anthropic Claude (cloud) and custom hosted LLM models for LLM analysis. You choose the model. You choose the categories. You choose how opinionated the narrative gets. The agents handle everything else.
Your Outpost is your personalized information gathering station. It defines what topics to track, how many sources to pull, and what editorial tone to use. Think of it as your own configured intelligence desk.
The Signal is what comes back. A multi-category narrative briefing — 4 to 6 paragraphs per topic, written in editorial prose with inline tags that flag key moments:
Every source is linked. Every claim is traceable. The Signal doesn't ask you to trust it — it shows you where it got its information.
Agents search across 8 topic categories, pulling the latest headlines and URLs from multiple sources. No API key needed — uses DuckDuckGo.
Full article text is extracted from every URL. Ads, menus, and boilerplate are stripped. The agent reads what a human would read — the actual story.
An LLM reads all collected articles per category and generates editorial narrative — with inline tags, sentiment, and structured Hall of Shame entries when genuine hypocrisy is detected.
The briefing is published as a full web report with category images and source links, deployed to the live site, and optionally emailed straight to your inbox.
Every briefing you read on Kafrene is written by an autonomous AI journalist agent. Not a chatbot responding to prompts — an agent that is unleashed on raw news articles with a clear editorial identity and set of instructions baked into its core.
The voice: Conversational but authoritative — like a sharp friend who reads everything and tells you what actually matters. It names names, cites numbers, connects stories to bigger patterns, and never wastes your time with filler. No bullet points. No corporate tone. Just editorial prose that gets to the point.
The stance: Centrist. The agent is explicitly instructed to stay balanced — it does not lean left or right politically. When it flags hypocrisy through the 🎭 Hall of Shame, it calls it out equally across all parties, ideologies, and industries. It does not shame businesses for making money — that is what businesses do. It only flags clear, undeniable contradictions: someone preaching one thing and doing the exact opposite. The bar is high. The tone is witty, not preachy.
The purpose: This agent exists because news should inform, not manipulate. It reads full articles — not headlines — and writes a narrative that respects your time and intelligence. Every source is linked. Every claim is traceable. It does not ask you to trust it. It shows you where it got its information and lets you decide.
These categories were chosen to cover the topics that matter to someone who wants to stay sharp across technology, security, money, and the world — without wading through noise. Each one runs independently: its own search queries, its own article pipeline, its own narrative. Together, they give you a full-spectrum view of what is happening right now.
These are the default categories for the current Outpost. Custom Outposts with your own categories are coming soon.
